Project Description

Created and performed by an intergenerational Asian American cast, the piece explores the relational tears of immigration and how storytelling creates possibility for connection when one’s own realities are too difficult to share.

Set in the present day, the story unfolds across three generations of women: a grandmother nearing the end of her life in China, a mother who immigrated to New York and feels too overwhelmed to return home, and an American-born daughter sent abroad to care for a grandmother she barely knows.

Through contemporary dance, recorded voiceover, and live guitar, the work invites audiences to reckon with the violence and love that coexist in immigrant families, opening possibilities for grieving and communal healing.
